GENERAL QUESTIONS
What are the requirements to make a tandem skydive?
You must be at least 18 years of age to jump at Skydive Kansas City, with a valid picture ID. We’ve taken folks in their 95th skydiving, so you’re never too old as, long as you’re in good physical condition!
For our skydiving weight limit, tandem students must weigh under 220 pounds. You will be weighed privately as part of the registration process. Those that exceed our limits will be unable to jump with a loss of the deposit.
Where are you located?
Skydive Kansas City is located just 45 minutes south of Kansas City at the Butler Memorial Airport (Butler, MO), just off Interstate 49.
Can we bring our own food?
You’re more than welcome to bring your lunch – we have a few picnic tables. You’ll find a Walmart, Casey’s, McDonald’s, and many other conveniences in Butler, about two miles south of the airport. Don’t forget to visit Cohen’s bakery!
What is your cancellation policy?
A $75.00 non-refundable deposit per student is required to confirm a space in the class. If you fail to show up, or cancel for any reason within 48 hours days of your reserved class time, this deposit will be forfeited. You can adjust your reservation outside of 7 days in the event you need to change your jump date and or time.
TANDEM SKYDIVING QUESTIONS
Can I jump with my friends?
Our Cessna Caravan can accommodate up to 7 tandem pairs (14 people,) so you could conceivably jump with 6 or your friends. We may be limited on the number of tandem instructors available, so if you prefer to jump on the same load as your friends and/or family, please call ahead to verify that we have enough staff.
How long does it take to train and jump?
You should plan on spending 4 hours with us for the training and jump process. Please keep in mind that this 4-hour time frame will fluctuate in accordance with demand and weather. Aviation (including skydiving,) is a game of timing, and sometimes waiting is necessary in order to keep everyone safe!
What should I wear skydiving?
Dress comfortably based on the ground temperatures for the day, and wear a good pair of athletic or tennis shoes. Sandals, Crocs, slides, loafers, or boots with lace hooks are not acceptable.
Can I wear a personal camera? (GoPro)
GoPro’s and other wearable cameras are not permitted. The United States Parachute Association (USPA) mandates that all skydivers must have a minimum of 200 skydives before wearing a camera in free fall.
What if weather conditions for skydiving don't look very good?
We ask that you arrive at your scheduled time, rain or shine (as distance allows.) We will start the training process regardless of the forecast or current weather. In the event weather doesn’t permit the jump you will receive a raincheck and be scheduled for another jump day at your convenience.
If we’re able to determine early enough that we won’t be able to skydive at all, we will make every effort to contact you the night before, or early in the morning of your scheduled skydive.
Our goal isn’t for you to have a ‘good time.’ Our goal is for you to leave us amazed knowing you’ve just had a life changing experience! Please allow us to show you why we are the premier dropzone for skydiving in Missouri.
