Getting ready for your first time skydiving experience? Skydive Kansas City has got you covered. Here we answer frequently asked questions and provide top tandem skydiving tips.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY TO SKYDIVE?
There’s really no bad time of the day to skydive, however your experience of the skydive will differ depending on when you go. Jumping when the sun is low in the sky produces some fantastic colors and can make for beautiful photos and memories. Choosing to jump in the middle of the day means it tends to be warmer and you’ll be able to see for miles around.
The only time we can’t jump is when it’s dark or there is bad weather. We have strict guidelines around the wind conditions we can jump in, and can’t jump if clouds obstruct our view of the landing area from the plane or if it’s raining.
Other than that, it’s all good! It’s also well worth making a day of your jump, even if the jump itself is done in the morning. There are always lots of parachutes to watch coming into land and a great atmosphere as people prepare for and celebrate their skydives.
CAN WE BRING FRIENDS TO WATCH?
Absolutely!
Skydiving is a super social sport, and we love welcoming your friends and family to watch your jump. There’s a really nice spectator area where they can sit and enjoy their day, plus great facilities to grab food, drink and meet other skydivers.
Bring as many friends as you like. The more the merrier!
IS OUR BOOKING TIME THE SAME AS OUR ARRIVAL TIME?
Yes, it is. That means even more reason to make it on time!
You’ll be allotted a jump time. This is the time you’re booked in to jump, but you’re not necessarily guaranteed to jump at that time. If weather conditions change or we’re not running quite to schedule, you may be a little delayed. But there’s plenty to keep you entertained while you wait!
WE’RE SCARED AND NEED A STIFF DRINK… IS THIS OKAY?
Nope, absolutely not. Sorry!
There’s no drinking allowed while we’re jumping. But stick around and you can join us for a beer once we’re done!
HOW LONG WILL WE BE THERE?
It’s hard to say how long you’ll be at the drop zone. Hopefully, you’ll love it as much as we do and choose to stay all day!
Typically, you can plan half a day here, which covers you for your arrival paperwork, your briefing and your jump. Extraneous factors like weather conditions will influence the time of your jump though. We’ll do our best to keep you updated on the day, but it’s worth bringing a pack of cards, you know, just in case…
SHOULD I TIP THE INSTRUCTOR?
You’re under no obligation to tip your instructor. But hey, the guy or gal just saved your life! They’ll think you’re even cooler if you do choose to tip for sure.
CAN I BRING MY DOG?
We love all animals here at Skydive Kansas City. Sadly though, the safety considerations (for people and animals) mean we’re unable to welcome dogs or pets of any kind.
CAN ONE VIDEOGRAPHER FILM TWO OF US?
It’s funny how often we get this question! While using one videographer for two jumpers would reduce the cost somewhat, unfortunately it’s not possible. That’s because there has to be an amount of separation between tandem skydivers. It’s a safety issue; we’re sure you understand!
